Stillwater Township is one of the county’s most rural municipalities, not experiencing residential growth at the rate of some of the others.   Located at the southern tip of the county,  Stillwater offers quick access to Route 80. 

The town's 29 square miles include fields, lakes and forests.  Parts of Paulinskill Lake, Swartswood State Park, and all of Swartswood Lake are located in Stillwater.  Swartswood Lake eight waterfront approaches offer swimming, boating and picnicking facilities.  

The town center features a restored gristmill, a number of historic homes, three antique shops, a general store and several other businesses.
