One of the most open and natural areas of Sussex County, Montague is a place where it is hard to avoid getting outdoors.  Located at the northern tip of of the state, it is the third largest municipality in size at 45 square miles.  Its population is 2,970.

The township includes most of 14,190  High Point State and part of the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.  High Point marks the highest elevation in New Jersey, at 1,803 feet above sea level.
